EU rejects call for security mission in the Balkans

The European External Action Service has dismissed the idea of deploying EU troops to the Balkans to curb the flow of refugees, Politico reports. The EU sends troops on security missions to fight smugglers in the Mediterranean and to tackle migration problems in Niger. Brussels announced Wednesday it would allocate 700 million euros in humanitarian aid to Greece and other EU countries dealing with the refugee influx.
