The Interpreter publishes an English-language version of Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta’s investigative story on the murder of opposition leader Boris Nemtsov. The article traces the steps of a gang of Chechen assassins who apparently received a tender to kill Nemtsov. Novaya Gazeta also probe’s Kremlin-backed Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov’s connection to the hit, as well as the cover-up by Russia’s Investigative Committee, which focused on prosecuting low-level operatives.
