Opposition calls Kadyrov ‘private army’ threat to Russia

An investigative report Russian opposition politician Ilya Yashin is releasing states Chechen strongman Ramzan Kadyrov has amassed a private army of 30,000 of fiercely loyal fighters. An RFE/RL piece on a leaked excerpt of the report says Yashin cites open source information showing Kadyrov sent his troops to Ukraine to fight alongside Russian-backed forces. Now Kadyrov is turning his fighters loose all over Russia, posing a threat to the security of the country. Though Kadyrov has amassed so much power, he remains loyal to the Kremlin.
