Erdogan reportedly planning crackdown on critical media before election

Zaman cites the Taraf daily in reporting Erdogan is planning an unprecedented crackdown on critical media to silence opposition voices ahead of the upcoming snap elections. Erdogan reportedly has a list of people for police to detain. The list includes journalists associated with the Gulen movement and the Dogan media conglomerate, as well as some opposition politicians and businessmen associated with opposition parties. The Taraf report states AKP leadership is divided over the plan, with party chairman Ahmet Davutoglu and his supporters opposing the plan.
