Turkey set to extend state of emergency

Following a meeting chaired by Erodgan, Turkey’s National Security Council called for an extension of the state of emergency that has provided the legal backing for the mass arrests in the aftermath of the failed coup, EurActiv and AFP report. The current state of emergency expires in mid October. It is unclear how long Ankara plans to extend it.
