Gazprom Is facing a perfect storm

John Lough, of the London-based Chatham House, writes an op-ed in The Moscow Times explaining the perfect storm that is hitting Gazprom. Low gas prices, economic sanctions, EU regulatory hurdles and increased domestic competition are blowing up Gazprom’s plans to bypass Ukraine and pivot to Asia. Russia’s current problems with Turkey and the infeasibility of building a Siberian pipeline to China are also halting Gazprom’s pipeline projects.
