Turkish government plans to seize critical media group ahead of election

Earlier this week, Turkish police raided the corporate offices of Koza Ipek Holding, which has media holdings that are critical of the government. Zaman reports Turkey’s Finance Crimes Investigation board has asked Ankara’s top prosecutor to seize the conglomerate and appoint a trustee to replace the existing board of directors. Reports have indicated Erdogan has been planning to seize critical media ahead of the Nov. 1 snap election.
