Ukraine poll shows support for independence rose in year of conflict

On Monday, Ukraine marked its 14th anniversary of the declaration of its independence from the Soviet Union. More Ukrainians support independence now than anytime in the past 15 years, a new poll shows. 72 percent of those living in Kiev-controlled territory support Ukrainian independence, and 8 percent oppose it. RFE/RL reports the survey reflects a surge of patriotic feelings since the ouster of the Yanukovych regime and since war with Russia, which has now been ongoing for 16 months.
