Is the ‘world’s deadliest tank’ bankrupting Russia?

A piece in the online Asian-Pacific magazine, The Diplomat, breaks down Russia’s defense budget and finds the Kremlin cannot complete its military modernization program as Putin said it would. Russia keeps hiking military spending, but its overall budget is shrinking as a result of low oil prices and western sanctions. That combination is not sustainable, and it could slow the rollout of Russia’s new T-14 Armata tank that made its first public appearance earlier this month in Moscow’s Victory Day Parade.
