Russian Orthodox Church admits to complicity in war crimes, will no longer cover missiles and other weapons

On Monday, February 3, the Russian Orthodox Church announced that it had halted the practice of priests blessing weapons of mass destruction. Their motive is that these types of weapons that cause the death of countless people, including for mass destruction, “should be excluded from pastoral practice because it is not reflected in the tradition of the Church.

Thus the ROC admits that it has so far been complicit in mass killings around the world and in active military action. The Putin regime and Patriarch Kirill Gundyaev have in recent years made it a practice to consecrate rockets, anti-aircraft guns and other weapons of mass destruction with church ritual. The ROC blessed the fighters who were going to fight as terrorists against the Ukrainian army, which was protecting its territory from the aggressor. This was also one of the reasons Ukraine sought to create its own Church, independent of the Russian one, which blessed the killing of Ukrainians. Clerics warned Russia that such rituals had nothing to do with Orthodoxy, but rather reminded of satanic practices.
