Erdogan wins Turkey’s executive presidency outright despite onbjections

Erdogan won the Turkish presidential election outright in the first round of voting with about 52.6 % of the vote. Meanwhile, Erdogan’s ruling AKP received 42.5 % of the vote in the simultaneous parliamentary election, but retained control of the Turkish parliament because the AKP’s coalition with the MHP received a combined 53.7 %. Throughout election night, there were allegations that Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency has misreported at least the initial results and had been manipulating observers’ perception of the vote by adding to Erdogan’s tally.
