The U.S. imposed a new set of sanctions targeting 21 people and nine companies linked to the Russia-backed conflict in Eastern Ukraine, RFE/RL reports. Washington targeted 11 people identified as top separatist officials in Eastern Ukraine. Multiple subsidiaries of the Russian oil producer Surgutneftegaz were also placed on the new sanctions list.
