West told Ukraine to abandon Crimea, document says

Ukraine’s parliament has published a transcript of a national security and defense council meeting that occurred just following the Russian invasion of Crimea in February 2014. The transcript indicates U.S. and EU leaders told Kiev they would not back Ukraine if it tried to recapture Crimea, EU Observer reports. During the crisis meeting, Ukrainian PM Arseniy Yatsenyuk said the West wanted to avoid a military conflict with Russia.
