U.S. general: We have ‘hugged’ the Russian bear for too long

American news site The Washington Free Beacon reports NATO’s supreme allied commander in Europe, U.S. Air Force Gen. Philip Breedlove, told reporters the U.S. had “hugged the bear” in Europe after the fall of the Soviet Union. But, Putin rejected Washington’s outstretched hand. The U.S. must stop accommodating Russia and rebuild its depleted military presence in Europe, Breedlove said. Breedlove recently met in Germany with U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Joseph Dunford, the new chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
