Turkey’s Islamist agenda in Kosovo

In a piece published in the Huffington Post last week, former U.S. State Department advisor David L. Phillips explains the neo-Ottoman policy Turkey is pursuing in Kosovo. Turkey’s AKP is promoting Islamism and glorifying both Turkey and the Ottomans through mosques and schools in Kosovo. It is also using Turkey’s status as Kosovo’s second largest trading partner (behind Serbia) to gain influence and counterbalance U.S. and EU interests in the Balkans.
