French eyes for a Russian tiger

France recently canceled its Mistral warship sale to Russia, but Russian tanks with French technology are appearing on the battlefield in Eastern Ukraine, EU Observer reports. Additionally, Paris lobbied Brussels to insert language into current EU sanctions that allows a French defense contractor to continue to export arms to a blacklisted Russian defense firm. The EU Observer investigation also raises suspicion that Russia used EU technology to complete its new Armata T-14 tank. Earlier this year, Moscow unveiledĀ the tank with painted tiger stripes of the St. George ribbon, which just so happens to be the unofficial emblem of pro-Russian fighters in Eastern Ukraine.
