Georgia calls on NATO to deliver membership promises

Georgian Defense Minister Tina Khidasheli spoke with RFE/RL during a trip to Washington this week. Khidasheli said NATO must present Georgia with tangible steps toward membership in the alliance when NATO holds a summit in Warsaw next July. NATO promised Georgia eventual membership in the alliance, but little progress toward Georgian accession has since occurred, even as Russian troops have occupied the breakaway Georgian regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
