Panic in the Kremlin

In his RFE/RL column, Brian Whitmore discusses the bizarre political incidents that have taken place in Russia over the past couple weeks. Whitmore writes Russia’s political elite is now troubled by a paradox: They can’t live with Putin. And they can’t live without him. Putin has enormous popular support in Russia, and there is no clear successor to him. But Putin’s policies have isolated Russia, and they are costing the country billions of dollars.
