Russia’s Iskander missile could have first foreign buyer in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is expressing interest in becoming the first foreign buyer of Russia’s deadly Iskander-E missile system, The Moscow Times reports. The Iskander is a tactical ballistic missile system that is optimised for use at close range, yet also capable of carrying nuclear warheads. Russia has discussed deploying the weapons to Kaliningrad, its enclave between Poland and Lithuania. If Russia were to sell the missile system to Saudi Arabia, it might give the United States, a Saudi ally, a chance to inspect the weapons and develop countermeasures.
