Turkey: Terror attacks in Istanbul and Sirnak

Turkey was hit with several terror attacks in the past 24 hours, and six security personnel died, Zaman reports. Four police officers were killed by landmines in the southeastern Sirnak province. A solider was also killed in an attack on a military helicopter in the Sirnak province. The PKK is suspected in both attacks. In Istanbul, a police chief was killed in shooting in the aftermath of a car bombing outside a police station. Ten people, including three officers, were injured in the bombing. Also, two assailants attacked the U.S. consulate in Istanbul on Monday. The leftist, outlawed Revolutionary People’s Liberation Army Front (DHKP-C) claimed responsibility for the attack on the consulate.
