18 Turkish journalists face 7.5 years in prison for publishing photo

The top prosecutor’s office in Istanbul is trying to put 18 journalists, of nine newspapers, in prison for at least 7.5 years for publishing a photo of a hostage prosecutor being held at gunpoint, Zaman reports. The prosecutor was killed during a shootout between police and kidnappers. The journalists are accused of “spreading terrorist propaganda.” One of those accused is the editor-in-chief of Turkish daily Cumhuriyet.
