According to the windows-on-eurasia blog, the Russian health minister has directly contradicted Putin’s nonsensical claim that mortality rates have risen because Russians live longer. She maintains that growing mortality in the 30-45 years age group is caused by alcohol. She has also said that for the first time in recent years suicides are increasing as well.
