Ukraine’s spymaster shows off another captured Russian officer

The head of Ukraine’s security service (SBU) has identified a man captured in Eastern Ukraine as Vladimir Starkov, a Russian military officer, the Kyiv Post reports. Starkov was captured along with a Russian army major on Sunday while they were riding a military truck packed with ammunition. Starkov claimed to be a member of the Donetsk separatists, but Ukrainian investigators obtained documents proving he is a Russian officer. Documents show that, upon coming to Ukraine, Russian soldiers change their names and give up their passports, military IDs and dog tags. Russian soldiers are also promised a tripling of their salary if they serve in Ukraine.
