Massive purge in Turkish police set stage for terrorist attacks

Additionally, Erdogan ordered a reshuffling of the National Police Department (EGM) after two corruption probes implicated high-ranking AKP officials. Erdogan’s purge led to unqualified staff taking leading roles in the organization, including in intelligence and counterterrorism units.
