Turkey-funded mega-mosque in Bucharest sparks resistance

Turkish plans to build a mega mosque in Bucharest, which has a Muslim population of only 60,000 living for the most part in Constanza, has generated massive opposition. This project is part of a Turkish government policy to build giant mosques in many Balkan cities (Tirana, Budapest and Kurjali, Bulgaria), as well as outside of the region. The projects are sponsored by the Turkish Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet).
