Belgrade bans rallies on Srebrenica anniversary

Serbia’s interior ministry says it will not permit rallies to take place in Belgrade on Saturday, the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre, Balkan Insight reports. Activists trying to gather 7,000 people to mourn the killings of Bosniaks planned an event outside the Serbian parliament. Right-wing groups announced they would hold rallies in the same place. Serbian Prime Minister Alexander Vucic plans to attend the commemoration in Srebrenica, even though Belgrade refuses to acknowledge that the July 1995 mass killings constitute genocide.
