At the Caspian Summit held in Russia earlier this week, the Caspian states unanimously agreed to forbid the deployment of NATO forces in the basin. Azerbaijan, Kazhakstan and Turkmenistan joined Russian and Iran in signing a declaration that only Caspian states have the right to place armed forces in the sea and in the region.
