Turkey’s foreign policy blunders hit home

Turkish columnist Zulfikar Dogan examines the latest economic data from TUK (Turkish Statistical Office) and finds out that the country is on the verge of a serious economic crisis. Unemployment has reached 11.3%, but more than twice that number if those that have given  up on finding a job are included. Women are particularly vulnerable with 21 mln out of 29 mln not in the labor force, partially as a result of AKP incentives not to work. With the lira devalueing and trade stagnating, 17 mln Turks live on less than $76/per month.
