Turkish Central Bank struggles to recover lira from historic lows

The Turkish lira has fallen about 12 percent against the dollar since the beginning of 2015. The lira was trading at 2.65 against the dollar on Tuesday, just missing a record low set last week. The lira is one of numerous currencies that has been weakening against the dollar in recent months, but it also appears to be losing value as a result of political pressure that Erdogan is placing on the Turkish Central Bank.
