Ukraine rebels stocking up on weapons, ammunition near Mariupol

The Ukrainian military is warning that Russian-backed separatists are stocking up on ammunition, rockets, armored carriers and other equipment to prepare for new battles. The so-called Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics claim they are withdrawing heavy weapons from battle zones, but they are really sending military equipment to Russia for repairs and moving weapons to new points of attack, a Kiev spokesman said. Much of the equipment is heading toward the Black Sea city of Mariupol, even though Europe is threatening Russia with new sanctions if the separatists attack the port town.
