Russia’s gas grip over Greece

Business Insider analyzes the political implications of Greece’s approximately 100 million euro gas debt owed to Gazprom. Greece’s new leftist government could bribe Russia by offering a veto on new EU sanctions in order to get a better deal with Gazprom, or it could use the threat of a sanctions veto to renegotiate its bailout debt with Europe. Both choices, though, would likely result in blowback.
