The two major non-Moscow Ukrainian Orthodox churches move toward unity

Paul Goble’s windows-on-eurasia blog discusses the significance of the two Ukrainian Orthodox Churches not subservient to the Moscow Patriarchate moving towards unity. The new church will be loyal only to the Universal Patriarchate in Istanbul and will have the effect of making the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) under Moscow’s Patriarch Kirill only the third largest Orthodox church. This is a huge blow to ROC and its Kremlin overlords and great news for Ukraine.
