Turkey elections: A worst case scenario

An EU Observer piece notes, if Erdogan and the AKP win big in the Turkish elections on Sunday, it could spell goodbye to Turkey’s EU accession process. Worse off, it could lead to Erdogan getting the authoritarian presidential system he desires and further cracking down on civil liberties. In the immediate term, there could be mass protests, which Erdogan may again use force to stop, as he did with the 2013 Gezi Park protests.
