Turkish central bank chief tries to sidestep Erdogan pressure

With Turkey’s economy slowing, foreign investors growing wary and parliamentary elections nearing, Erdogan is trying to place the blame on Turkish Central Bank Governor Erdem Basci. Erdogan has gone as far as to claim that Basci is committing treason by not slashing interest rates. But, Basci refuses to cave to Erdogan’s demands, and the central bank chief is trying to slow the rising inflation in Turkey, Reuters reports.
