Turkey discharges 1,389 soldiers, shuts down military schools

Turkey has shut down all of its military schools and has dismissed 1,389 soldiers from the army over suspected links to the coup attempt, Hurriyet Daily News reports. The same government decree also brought the land, naval and air forces under the control of Turkey’s Defense Ministry. The Defense Ministry will also oversee a new university called the National Defense University.
