Russia to beef up western border

In response to NATO’s plan to deploy battalions to the Baltic states and Poland, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced Moscow is beefing up its western border by deploying 2,000 units of “new and modernized equipment,” RFE/RL reports. Shiogu also announced he fired the commander of Russia’s Baltic fleet, who was “distorting the real state of things.”
