Migrants to keep coming but Albania won’t become EU gateway, admiral says

In an interview with EU Observer, Italy’s former defense minister, retired admiral Luigi Binelli Mantelli, said migrants will keep coming to Europe, despite the EU’s deal with Turkey, because they can find ways to come undetected and because Turkey and Greece do not have the will to stop them. Mantelli said there is little risk the migrants will pour into NATO member Albania because Tirana has effective border controls and a strong will to work with the EU. Some analysts are concerned migrants will start entering Albania en masse now that the Greek-Macedonian border has been closed.
