Multinational oil company Shell has gained rights to explore Bulgaria’s Silistar gas field in the Black Sea, Balkan Insight reports. Shell can search for oil and natural gas over the next five years. Bulgaria is almost entirely dependent on Russian energy, but Sofia is trying to create a gas hub on the Black Sea coast that would include Bulgarian and Azeri gas. Bulgaria will soon begin building an interconnector with Greece.
