Russia’s Gazprom officially terminated the South Stream gas pipeline project on Wednesday, Balkan Insight reports. Putin called off the project in late 2014 after the EU objected to it. The planned pipeline was going to carry gas under the Black Sea and through Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary. The project was estimated to cost about 16 billion euros.
