Attack on Hurriyet building marks black page for Turkey’s democracy

Pro-AKP protesters pelted the Istanbul headquarters of the Hurriyet newspaper with stones early Monday morning. The protesters also burned the Hurriyet flag outside the building while chanting political slogans and “God is great.” Some AKP supporters called for the protesters to burn down the building. The protest began after a group of AKP supporters, including an MP, accused the newspaper of insulting Erdogan.
