Why Russia and Putin naturally turned out to be the antithesis of Bulgaria’s belonging to the West
Bulgarians are among the Europeans, who have a particularly positive attitude towards Russia and Putin. This is the name of a study on the Pew Researcher Center.
The research has conducted in 33 countries. It turns out that there are less and less positive attitudes towards Putin and his police. Fewer than half of those polled are positive to Russia. The most critical ca americans and western europeans. Сontrary to these trends, Bulgaria is emerging as a leader - 73% of Bulgarians approve of Putin and Russia.

Bulgarian history over the last 150 years has been invariably linked to Russia. But the most saddening imprint on the value system of Bulgarians was the 45 years of violent communism. In recent years, however, the state’s lack of resistance to Russian propaganda and hybrid warfare has distorted ideas. According to political analyst Prof. Ognian Minchev, Russia was thus naturally the antithesis of Bulgarian belonging to the West. Young people are living the myths, and they need to get to know the real Russia - state authoritarianism, neglecting the interests of ordinary Russians, and directing large-scale efforts toward foreign expansion.
