Evil propaganda: The Kremlin works for a safe and secure Balkans

“Russia is doing a lot to ensure that the situation in the Balkans remains stable and secure. Moscow is pushing for an acceptable solution between Kosovo and Serbia”, Russian President Vladimir Putin says. His words were circulated from RIA Novosti.

For years, Russia has waged dirty propaganda and a hybrid war with the West and the democratic world. And the Balkans are one of the most neuralgic points struck by Russia’s aggressive foreign policy, which inevitably destabilizes the region. It is enough to recall only a few facts. Most recently, a scandal broke out with Russian diplomats expelled from Bulgaria, declared “persona non grata,” and three Russian citizens seeking a red bulletin over the attempted murder of businessman Emilian Gebrev. Arab television Al Jazeera has published an investigation claiming that Bulgaria has become the center of subversive operations of GRU agents. Moscow attempted a coup in Montenegro just months before the country’s NATO entry, and Macedonia was thwarted in 2015 by the then prime minister’s attempt to carry out a coup, involving agents of Russian intelligence services. It is Russia that has been creating paramilitary formations in Serbia and Macedonia for years to thwart the membership of the two Balkan countries in the EU and the North Atlantic Treaty. Greece has also fallen under the brunt of Russian propaganda, with Russian operations conducting a complex hybrid war operation in recent years aimed at boosting Russian influence in Greek society and diverting the country from its Western orientation. In this sense, the words of Russian President Putin are false and manipulative.
