Thousands in Georgia protest alleged election fraud

Thousands of pro-western demonstrators gathered in Tbilisi to protest the results of Georgia’s presidential election, which resulted in a victory for the ruling party and oligarch-backed candidate Salome Zurabishvili, RFE/RL reports. The protesters allege there was fraud, and they called for early parliamentary elections and a new election law. Ex-Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, who called for Georgians to protest the alleged fraud, addressed the crowd from the Netherlands, where he is living in self-imposed exile.
