Islamist TV host resigns after threatening to kill civilians in secular Istanbul neighborhoods

A host for the Islamic Turkish station Akit TV resigned and is facing criminal charges after positing the idea of “killing civilians” in secular neighborhoods of Istanbul, Hurriyet Daily News reports. In response to allegations that the Turkish military was killing civilians in its operation in Afrin, Syria, tv host Ahmet Keser said, “If we [Turks] were to kill civilians, we would have started in Cihangir, Nişantaşı and Etiler, wouldn’t we?” Keser went on to say that there are many traitors and the Turkish Parliament, too. Following public outrage, an Istanbul prosecutor charged Keser with provocation, defamation and inciting hatred and animosity in public.
