Российский хай-тек – 2014: десять грустных итогов года

The Russian business site slon.ru published an article analyzing the “Ten sad lessons of 2014 for Russian hightech,”(in Russian).Among them: Russia’s largest internet companies such as Yandex, mail.ru and Qiwi have all lost more than 50% of their valuation over the past year, venture capital and Western investments have collapsed, and Western tech giants are leaving the country. And one couldn’t expect anything else given that Mr. Putin believes that “all of this (the Internet) started as a CIA project and that’s how it is developing.”
