CIA denies Russia that Stepan Bandera is Hitler’s agent, manipulated by information in emigrant magazine
Russia’s „RIA Novosti“ recently published a text declaring Ukrainian nationalist Stepan Bandera a fascist and Hitler’s professional agent. The publication allegedly referred to declassified CIA official documents. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova published on Facebook a special post accusing Ukraine of revealing Bandera as a hero today, and he was a fascist and Hitler’s agent. Zakharova’s comment was covered in all pro-Kremlin media.
RIA Novosti’s “discovery” was, in fact, fake, and Zakharov’s reaction – a kind of Russian propaganda against independent Ukraine. While the media in Russia celebrated Bandera’s “revelation”, they missed seeing that an official announcement appeared on the CIA’s website denying their manipulation. It turned out that the CIA had never declassified such documents, and the information was taken from a Russian immigrant magazine published in the United States in the 1950s.
