Russian.rt.com: Shoygu: Implementing Russia-Turkey memorandum on Syria is not so easy
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu said implementation of the Russian-Turkish memorandum on Syria on October 22 was not so easy. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
“The memorandum signed by the presidents of Turkey and Russia is not easy to implement, but we see that this is probably the only way to restore peace and preserve the sovereignty of Syria,” Shoygu said, noting that Russia has extensive experience in “humanitarian aid – demining, medical aid ‘in the fight against international terrorism.
Earlier, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the launch of reconnaissance flights and clearance on joint patrol routes with Russia in Syria.
On October 22, Russian and Turkish leaders Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan reached an agreement to bring Syrian and Russian military police into the area outside the Turkish military operation “Source of Peace” in Syria.
It was later reported that Russia had fully implemented the measures provided for in the Russian-Turkish memorandum of 22 October.
Following the delight of the Erdogan-Putin agreement in Sochi, it is time for more realistic estimates. Several days’ news chronicles are full of captive Syrian soldiers from the Turkish armed forces, a failure by the Turkish and Kurdish forces to reach an agreement. Erdogan has become increasingly critical, including with regard to the irreversibility of irreversibility in improving relations between the two countries. The rebuttal of information from Russian central media that Turkey wants to buy two squadrons – 48 SU-35 aircraft – came from the top spot.
