vz.ru: Georgia has started building a hotel of political importance on the border with Abkhazia
The “Social Investment Fund” of billionaire leader Bidzin Ivanishvili, leader of the governing Georgian Dream party, has begun construction of a five-star hotel on the border with Abkhazia in the Black Sea village of Ganmuhuri, Tbilisi newspaper correspondent VZLYAD reports.
The construction of such a high-end hotel was announced in 2016, but after that the project changed several times.
The cost of construction is $ 60 million.
Bidzina Ivanishvili himself said earlier that the implementation of this project near the border is not only economically but also politically important.
Georgia has developed programs to attract Abkhazians and Ossetians through economic and humanitarian projects. An upscale hotel in Ganmuhuri should show the Abkhazians the appeal of Georgian economic policy. In addition, near Abkhazia, Georgia will build the deepest port of Anakli on the Black Sea.
Georgia continues to develop as a major weapon to counter Russian expansion and the detachment of Abkhazia and South Ossetia – a total failure in the development of these regions, in the absence of Russian investment and the collapse of the local economy. The difference in the coastline in Abkhazia and Georgian coastal areas could hardly be more frightening. Therefore, the decision to demonstrate prosperity at the border with Abkhazia may once again demonstrate that the reintegration of these regions into Georgia may provide them with an alternative.
