German Government Commission Says Energy Transition not Possible

A German government Expert Commission on Research and Innovation (EFI) pours cold water on energy transition (Energiewende) prospects. To satisfy German energy needs an installed capacity of 1400 Gigawatt hours (GWh) are needed. By the end of 2017, only 112 GWh have been installed. Even 500 GWh are not possible by 2050 at the current rate of installing 7.3 GWh per year.
